We would like to inform you that Moldova’s favorable geographical position offers a special investment platform with first-class export opportunities to the EU, South East European (SEE) and CIS countries. Thus, on the one hand, the Association Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union which entered into force on 01 July 2016 offers free access of Moldovan goods and services to the EU market and, on the other hand, there are free trade agreements with the Community of Independent States (CIS) – 2012, GUAM Countries – 2002, CEFTA Countries – 2007, Turkey – 2017, which allow for free trade in goods and services with almost all non-EU SEE countries. Moldova has also Agreements on mutual promotion and protection of investments (with 34 countries).

The Association Agreement with the EU also includes a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA), which intends to reduce barriers to trade between the EU and the Republic of Moldova, and aims to include the Republic of Moldova in the European economic area. Moreover, it opens extraordinary opportunities for the country, both in terms of access to the European Community market for domestic goods and services through the elimination of import (and export, if any) customs duties, and in terms of supporting and encouraging deep structural reforms necessary to raise the competitiveness of the Moldovan economy. The DCFTA includes also a number of provisions aimed at reforming Moldova’s trade and trade policies in line with the EU acquis. These aim at the modernization of the economy, attracting EU investment into the country and a more predictable policy environment.

On 23 June 2022, the European Council granted candidate status to Moldova and in December 2023, the EU Council decided to open accession negotiations with Moldova. This will further bring Moldova closer to the European Union, with the ultimate goal of the country becoming part of the EU common economic area.

Due to the above mentioned, as well as to the tax and customs facilities offered by the legislation of the Republic of Moldova for free zones, the location of foreign companies and transnational corporations in the perimeter of the FEZ “Balti”, for conducting business with the western and eastern markets, will certainly produce the expected optimal results, beyond your expectations.
